You Are What You Eat

be smart. eat clean

I am going to start posting regularly about my fitness and health routine, I am thinking once every other week for now. I would love input about what you want to see, so feel free to comment or reach out to me via Twitter or Facebook. If you would like to add anything to these posts, or even have a guest post let me know that as well!

Today I am going to start with a normal day of health and fitness for me at the beginning of the week (Monday, but in this case, Tuesday)

7:30am- Wake up (using 4 alarms, maybe this isn’t so healthy)

8- Drink 12-16 ounces of warm water to get my metabolism started and my body flushed of toxins early

8:15- Prepare 2 snacks, lunch and Shakeology for the day. I drink Shakeology as my breakfast, I always add two servings of fruit and a spoonful of Almond Butter.

9- Arrive to work (normally a few minutes late)

10:30- First snack, this is almost always olives and carrots

12:30- Lunch, typically a protein and vegetable. Today it was a veggie burger and string beans. I make sure to have already had 48 ounces of water at this point.

3:30- Second snack, I eat this a bit later since Lunch is more filling and I do a snack that takes a little while to eat in the afternoon. Typically, two hard boiled eggs and almonds.

6:30- Dinner, I try to make something with a protein, carb and extra veggies. Tonight it was Baked Chicken with seasoning (no salt), brown rice, cauliflower and carrots. I also make sure to have had 36 more ounces of water by now.

7:30- Spend 30-45 minutes prepping food for the following 2 days.

7:30- WORKOUT! I have been doing the PiYo program, but I also add the 10-Minute Abs from the 21-Day Fix, 3 times a week

8:30- Time to catch up on blogging, TV, DIYing, etc. Most of the time I don’t need anything else to snack on, but when I do I go for 10-15 almonds. I also drink at least 16 more ounces of water in the evening.

10:30- Bedtime! I lay in bed for a little while, turn off my phone and Pray before heading into dreamland.

The goals I have for myself each day, which I achieve when I follow this schedule-

  • Drink 90-100 ounces of water
  • Workout
  • Meal Prep for a few days
  • DON’T pay attention to the scale. I take pictures every 3 weeks to determine my progress, looking at a scale is very defeating, especially when you are building muscle.
  • DON’T cheat, but if I do, don’t feel bad for it. Everyone deserves a little treat every now and then, just keep it clean.

How do you keep your life in line with your health and fitness goals?

The Makeup Trials

I have never been a full on make-up type of person. I hardly wear foundation, I never wear blush, and sometimes I throw on some lipgloss but my go-to day to day has always been eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara. Since I started getting Ipsy a few months ago I have been testing out new things, and buying some products to try out while slowly getting a feel so what I like. I also joined a few make-up groups on Facebook, and am becoming quite addicted. Even though I still wear the same products daily, I’m not as afraid to test some new things out.

I recently made my first large purchase from Sephora and am head-over-heels for some of their products! My favorite right now are bronzers, blush, and primers. I always had a problem with my eyeshadow creasing, but since I started using primer I don’t have a problem! I will post about my specific products soon, but for now I want to give you the chance to win some awesome goodies of your own! Helene from Helene in Between and friends are getting together to giveaway $200 to Sephora! Check out their awesome blogs below, and enter to win!

Mary Kay Glam

I received one of the latest Influenster Voxbox’s and this one may be the best one yet! I am always excited to try new products, and since I have been getting bored with my makeup lately anyways, this was the perfect time to receive the MKGlam voxbox. So lets get into the goods…

Mary Kay Gel Eyeliner w/ Expandable brush applicator in Jet Black- EYELINER IS MY FAVORITE. Eyeliner is a must for me. If I have a no makeup day, chances are I still have eyeliner on, and most of the time its black. I’ve never used gel liner, only because I looked at it as a time commitment. When I tried this liner I didn’t get it perfect at first, but once I did I realized I have been missing out. It does take a little more time then liquid liner, but it lasts longer as well.

Mary Kay Lash Love in I ❤ Black- I can never seem to find a mascara that makes my lashes look full while staying clump free. This mascara does the trick. It separates, adds length and looks full. I will be buying this again once mine runs out.

Mary Kay Mineral Cheek Color in Shy Blush- I don’t normally wear blush, but this color isn’t too bright so I gave it a try. Guess what…I really liked it! I don’t think blush will be added to my normal day-to-day makeup bag, but I will be using it when I need to get a little glammed up.

Mary Kay Bronzing Power- I use bronzing powder in the spring and summer months for the most part because I feel weird having a sun-kissed face when there is no sun. The color is a little dark for my liking, but it isn’t heavy and went on smooth. This would be perfect for somebody with a darker skin tone.

Mary Kay Cream Eye Color in Apricot Twist- I just tried cream shadow for the first time a few weeks ago and unfortunately, I am not a fan. It goes on easily, but it feels too heavy for normal everyday wear. This color is beautiful though!

Mary Kay Translucent Loose Powder- This is another product I don’t normally use. I probably won’t use this much because I don’t really find that my face shines too much. On the other hand, if I ever needed less shine I couldn’t even tell this powder was on my face.

Mary Kay NouriShine Plus Lip Gloss in Mango Tango- I love lip gloss (even though Dave doesn’t because it causes sticky kisses). My only problem is the shade of this gloss. I have tried to rock the red, but it just doesn’t look right. Maybe I’ll save this one for Halloween.

Mary Kay Cream Eye Color/Concealer Brush- Since I don’t really use cream shadow, I use this more for concealer. It works great, and gets product directly where I want it. I will be buying some more Mary Kay brushes because this one works wonders!

The total for this Voxbox was over $100, and I received all of the products complimentary from Influenster and Mary Kay.

Who Doesn’t Love Free?

ImageLike most of you (I assume), I am all about free goodies! I’m also pretty inclined to buy cheap awesome stuff too though, so I have a subscription to Ipsy. I have been a member of Influenster, and I receive awesome products at least once every other month. I’m not super active on the site, but I’m sure if I were to be more present I could get more.

The real reason for this blog is to share that I just found 2 new websites to help get some free goodies, in exchange for reviews!

BzzAgent- It seems to be all about surveys and redeeming points for products. I have only done a few of the surveys, but they are super quick so far, and not difficult. So it seems to be worth it for free stuff.

PINCHme- For this one you fill out some information about yourself, and it shows your products that you can order (shipping and the product are FREE!). I was only able to get one so far, a K-Cup, woohoo!

If you would like an invite to any of these sites, leave a comment! Do you know any other beauty, craft or supply sites that give things out for reviews? Or any other good monthly subscriptions?

Mixing Dots

Mixing patterns is an apparent trend for this fall, but what about pairing patterns? I tried it with polka dots, and I was pretty happy with the outcome.

I finally found this gold polka dot scarf at Target. So many people have posted it but it took forever for my whole in the wall store to get it. I was happy I got it later though because Cartwheel had a coupon! I also LOVE the belt I found. Lots of my Instagram friends posted about a gold glitter belt with a bow, which is perfect, but my store didn’t have my size. So i settled for gold glitter without the bow, and I am extremely happy. Who can be sad with a glitter belt?!

I have had my eye on this polka dot sweater from Old Navy for a few months now, and it finally went on sale! Although, I’m not sure if I am going to keep it. There is no way I could wear it without a long sleeve shirt under it because the polka dots are so itchy. Some say pain is beauty, but I am pretty sure I can deal without the pain.

Overall I was pretty happy with this Christmassy look!

Tiffany’s Polka Dots

Tiffany's Polka Dots

Like most others, I have an obsession with anything Tiffany Blue. My living room is painted to be an exact match to a Tiffany’s box, and any clothing items I find in this color I must buy. So this is my favorite scarf (from black friday, YEA!) and my favorite sweater, paired with a simple white shirt.
