My Favorites {2014 Entertainment}

2014 has been a great year in the entertainment category. From new movies and TV shows to great music, I want to share some of my favorites from this past year. Some are older, but had a special place in this year or I just found out about them.

Favorite Movies

begin

Begin Again- I left the theatre feeling inspired and full of happiness. This movie had a wonderful story line and I loved each twist and turn along the way. It doesn’t hurt that Adam Levine is in it and looks pretty great.

Divergent- Girl power! This movie is everything I love in a story, and actually compared to the book, which never happens. My favorite part of the story was left out, but all in all this was a great movie. I am so excited for Insurgent in March!

Guardians of the Galaxy- This movie turned out to be nothing like I expected. I was laughing, crying, sitting on the edge of my seat and more throughout it all and I couldn’t have been more surprised. I normally love general Super Hero movies, but this one was more than that.

TFIOS

The Fault In Our Stars- Another book that somewhat compared to the movie. I cried my eyes out, but it was a great movie with a wonderful storyline. Having experienced a lot of the medical situations with my Uncle, it was very relatable yet heartbreaking.

The movie I wanted to love but didn’t- Mockingjay Part 1. I am obsessed with The Hunger Games series, but I really didn’t love it. It seemed like the movie was about 1/3 of the book instead of half of it. It easily could have been cut shorter and made into one movie.

Favorite (new and new to me) TV Shows

Gossip Girl- I don’t know what I did with my life before I started watching GG in the spring. Dave even got into it! I compare something to Blair, Chuck, or Serena daily and I still can’t believe the ending.

gotham

Gotham- This might be my favorite new show of the fall. The twists in Gotham keep me excited week after week to see what is next. I love the way the characters of Batman are subtle, and there is a whole new story line involved.

Parenthood- Another Netflix binge watch for me. We normally watch a 2-3 episodes a night. I don’t know what took me so long to start watching this show, but I love it. I can relate to a little piece of almost all of the characters, and the story lines are so real.

The Flash- I will admit, it took me several episodes to get into this one. Dave’s favorite show is Arrow, and I can’t stick with that one for the life of me, but I wanted to give The Flash a try. They reminded me of each other a lot at first, but now that I realize The Flash is supposed to be such a corny character, I really dig the story line.

Favorite Music

1989

1989- Taylor nailed this one. 95% of the songs are amazing and I haven’t stopped listening to all of them at least twice a day. I am also even more excited because I will be attending the 1989 World Tour in June!

Bastille- I am obsessed with this band. I saw them live in May and I may or may not have cried a little. They were amazing, and I love the mashups they have been putting out lately. It’s my dream to see them in Europe one day! This is further proven by the email I receivedScreen Shot 2014-12-10 at 11.47.33 AM from Spotify

What have you loved this year?

Starting 2014 Right

Its already 9 days into January. That may not seem like a lot of time to some people, but for me it’s a ton. I can’t believe the goals I am achieving so far into this year, and I hope you will keep me accountable for continuing to keep on keeping on. My big moments in these first 9 days are all relative in a way, although not at all in the big picture. I am pushing myself, and trying to remain positive in every aspect.

First big step, skiing. I haven’t skied in at least 10 years (I’ve spent a few winters in between snowboarding) and I am going to Colorado in March, I NEED to know what I am doing by then. Starting with volunteering for a Children’s Winter Snowboarding/Skiing camp, I’ve already been on the mountain twice, and I have at least 5 more days there to perfect the act of pretending to know what I am doing.

My second big step is working out. For the past several months I have been trying to eat healthier, which I have, but my lack of exercise isn’t proving to help very much. I have lost some pounds, but not many inches. I have worked out 6 times in the first 9 days, which is a start for somebody with a full schedule like me. I need to get on the Yoga train though, I hear that will help with my mega stress.

My third and biggest accomplishment thus far is starting my Wedding Planning class with my mom! I have been saying I would do it for months, and I finally sat down a few days ago and not only started the class, but finished 3 of the 5 sections! I know the biggest struggle with this endeavor will be figuring out legal issues, but I think I can do it! Any law students out there want to lend a fellow broke girl some knowledge, feel free!

A little something else I am excited about is the other blog I am on, Fox and His Anchor, which I have with my boyfriend. Follow more of my adventures over there!

Are you sticking to your goals? Have the first 9 days of 2014 been exceptional for you?

New Year, New Me?

It’s that time of the year when everyone is deciding what they want to change about themselves in the upcoming year. It seems to be kinda negative, right? Each person picking apart themselves to find what they should become. Well for the first time I am not going to do that. I’m not going to make a resolution that involves changing myself, I am going to make a resolution to change what is around me and to continue to do positive things.

I have a Bucket List, and that is what I am going to rely on for 2014. So basically this is a Bucket List instead of a list of resolutions that won’t be achieved.

  1. Travel more, many people say this and don’t actually act on it. This past year I have started traveling and actually going places that I have never been. I plan on doing the same, but more of it.  Goal: 5 new places, at least 1 in another country
  2. Eat what I want, but make my wants healthy. Since I moved out on my own I have been only buying healthy food products, I want to continue this.
  3. Write more. I have a Pen Pal now, and I can’t wait to start writing to her! I also want to be more present on this blog and the one I have with my boyfriend. (Check out A Fox And His Anchor)
  4. Take a yoga class. I sometimes feel like I surround myself with stress, and yoga is said to help that, right?
  5. Make weddings happen. My dream has been to start a wedding planning company. Slowly I am getting everything together for that, but it’s difficult figuring out everything on my own. The licensing and big words are holding me up.
  6. Last but not least, surround myself with happiness. When others are happy, I can be happy.

I hope you all have a very Happy New Year! I can’t wait to post about my magical night!

Looking Back on 2013

As 2013 comes to a close, I love looking back at the past 12 months and thinking about all that happened. Facebook has their own way of collecting that data in who knows what way, and Statigram is doing it for most likes on Instagram. I wanted to go through my pictures and compile a list of memories myself. Storywheel has helped me do that. It connects to your Instagram account, so you don’t have much option to choose others photos, but come on, if we have a picture from a memorable moment, we all know that we share it to our IG followers. I enjoyed looking back as I chose which pictures I was going to use. My Storywheel is below, give it a try!
